FAQS

  • What is the purpose of the REP Thumb Tape?

REP Thumb Tape can help lifters protect their thumbs while utilizing hook grip during barbell lifts. While it's specifically designed for thumbs, you can use it wherever you want, including on your palms to help with calluses. It also can protect forearms during Strongman movements.

  • What is the size of the Thumb Tape?

The REP Thumb Tape is 5cm wide and 4.5m long.

  • Is the tape stretchy?

Yes, the tape is designed to stretch. It contains 5% spandex, which allows it to extend and conform to your body while still offering reliable protection. This combination ensures a secure fit and flexibility without compromising support.

  • Does the tape leave a residue on my hands?

No, due to the mild adhesive, the tape does not leave behind a residue.

  • Do I need scissors to cut the tape?

No, you can tear the tape with your hands at the length you require.

  • What material is the Thumb Tape made from?

It is a blend of 95% cotton and 5% spandex.

  • Can you wear Thumb Tape in sanctioned competitions?

Always check with your association, as rulebooks can vary by association/competition level/year, but you can typically use tape in Olympic weightlifting, functional fitness, and powerlifting meets, as long as it follows certain parameters. For example, with USAPL (powerlifting), you must wrap the tape circumferentially around the thumb but only in specific layers/overlap; can't wear it anywhere other than the thumbs; and cannot cover the whole thumb. With USAW and IWF, you need to make sure the tip of the thumb remains exposed. In the CrossFit Games, support gear like tape that improves safety/comfort but doesn't provide athletic advantage is allowed; you can't wear tape with any unapproved logos, however.

  • Do I still need to use chalk with Thumb Tape?

While the tape does have a slight texture, it is not enough to provide an extra advantage in competitions, so you will still want to use chalk for your grip instead of relying on tape alone. This makes the tape legal to use in meets and allows you control over how much grip assistance you want via chalk.

  • What is the warranty?

    No warranty.
