The year was 2012. Brothers Ryan and Shane McGrotty saw a need for quality strength equipment in their community. They were working with fitness companies as part of their affiliate marketing business and, as strength training enthusiasts themselves, they were disappointed in the offerings.
They wondered: Why can’t you have an amazing experience when buying fitness equipment? Where was the creativity? Why were so many retailers carrying tired, old brands with dated designs? And most importantly, why couldn’t they do it better?
They could. The answer to the last question would become the answer to them all.

Innovation. Customer service. Value. These three points became the foundation for the brothers’ vision, which would ultimately grow into REP Fitness, one of the fastest-growing fitness equipment companies in the nation.
It started in Longmont, Colorado, in a 1,200-square-foot retail storefront with a two-car garage. They filled it with a few pieces of equipment and stacked bumper plates to the ceiling in the closet. They worked more than 60 hours a week, while working second jobs to make ends meet. Their shop wasn’t a big, flashy space, but even in the humble garage, the brothers’ goal was to see people's eyes light up when they walked into the space. They wanted to bring back the art of customer service. They also wanted to sell high-quality gear they would (and did) buy, use, and love themselves.

2011
Ryan and Shane McGrotty move to Colorado and get the idea to start a fitness equipment company that offers superior customer service and innovative equipment at a great value.

2012
The brothers start REP Fitness in a 1,200-square-foot garage in Longmont, Colorado. Customers are thrilled with a local option that provides the equipment they are looking for.
2014
REP expands into a 3,000-square-foot garage across town, hires the first team member, and releases its first version of the AB-3000 adjustable bench.
2015
REP moves into a 6,500-square-foot warehouse in Denver and the team grows to 11.
2016
REP relocates again, to a much bigger 20,000-square-foot building off Interstate 25 in Denver with a team of 20 people. They continue to listen to their customers and design equipment that lifters want.
2017
After quickly outgrowing their space, they move to a bigger 63,000-square-foot location off I-25 in Denver, complete with offices, a warehouse, and large showroom. The staff grows too, now reaching 30 people. Customers are in awe of the showroom, with high ceilings, tons of equipment to play with, and a big, open floor plan that makes you feel like a kid in a candy store.
2018
REP releases its first patented product: the AB-5000 Zero Gap Adjustable Bench. REP also releases the customizable PR-5000 v2 and the PR-4000 power racks. Growing quickly now to team of more than 60, REP lands on the Inc. 5,000 fastest-growing companies in the USA at #450.

2020
Home gym equipment demands due to Covid-19 spark massive growth. Staff grows from 60 to 100+ people, and the company opens an additional 170,000-square-foot warehouse, office, and showroom in Pennsylvania to better serve the East Coast.

REP doubles down on its investment into innovation, growing its engineering team from two to more than 10. New products grow from 12 in 2020 to more than 50. And REP again lands on the Inc. 5,000 fastest-growing companies, this time at #962.

2022
REP takes more than 50 new products to market; grows to a team of more than 150 people across three countries; opens a more than 100,000-square-foot California location to provide bicoastal distribution and showrooms to serve more people; expands reach to Canada, Korea, and Australia; launches sponsored athletes; and expands to another 30,000-square-foot premier office, staff gym, and R&D location, this time right outside Denver.

2023
REP continues to grow to more than 150+ people strong, expanding to the Philippines, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. It’s a major year for innovation with a long list of new products, including a full lineup of barbells, an apparel line, and much more. REP also launches an innovative, online 3D Rack Builder; partners with a new lineup of inspirational athletes and ambassadors; attends the Arnold Sports Festival; and donates tens of thousands of dollars to nonprofits that support veterans and youth in fitness.

2024
In 2024, REP saw significant growth, expanding its team to over 200 employees, entering new international markets, and showcasing at major events like The Olympia. The company introduced several key products, including the Ares™ 2.0 cable attachment, the Arcadia® Max functional trainer, and the Adonis™ cable tower. REP also partnered with PÉPIN's adjustable dumbbells and collaborated with Kleva Built™ on innovative cable machine attachments. Additionally, it expanded into supplements with protein bars and powders, launched new gym flooring options, a dumbbell storage cart, and an updated apparel line. Strengthening its presence in functional training, REP teamed up with F45 Training to introduce specialized racks in studios while earning industry recognition with multiple equipment awards.
