No, you don’t need to bolt the Altitude™ power rack down but it is always recommended for safety.

The rack does include built-in bolt plates at the base if you prefer or require a fixed setup—especially for high-intensity training, added peace of mind, or meeting facility mounting standards. Bolting it down is optional, but the feature is there when you want it. Hardware not included.

The number of cable exercises you can perform is long, but just to name a few: bicep curls, tricep pushdowns, tricep extensions, standing or seated chest flies, rear delt flies, lateral leg raises, donkey kicks, lateral and frontal arm raises, rehab/prehab shoulder work, mid rows (on the floor or on a bench), low rows (by sitting on a bench), lat pulldowns, wood chops, face pulls, chest press, belt squats with our attachment, and since there are so many attachment points, it is easy to superset between exercises.

The Altitude™ cable attachment is purpose-built for the Altitude™ rack system, giving owners a seamless, space-efficient way to add lat pulldowns, low rows, and functional-trainer movements inside the rack footprint. It runs dual side stacks (like the Athena™) that are upgradable from 170 to 270 lbs per side (before the 2:1 ratio), includes the REP® x Kleva Built® Atlas™ Close-Grip Cable and Landmine Attachment out of the box, and uses two 1.25-lb adder weights per side for smoother, more precise micro-loading instead of a single 2.5-lb drop-down on the Ares™ 2.0.

The Ares™ 2.0 is our flagship integrated cable system for PR-4000/PR-5000 racks, built as a higher-tier, feature-dense functional trainer/lat pulldown/low row solution within those rack ecosystems. Bottom line: both deliver serious cable capability, but they’re optimized for different rack lines, with differences in stack orientation, starting weights and upgrade paths, included attachments, and adder-weight design.

The 83" upright height option has a shorter range of motion for lat pulldowns, trolley height adjustments, and attachment height adjustments. This is due to the 83" rack being shorter than the 90" rack.

Yes—incline is limited to 45° when used on the middle uprights. Additionally, if you own the leg extension & leg curl bench attachment, it can further limit incline bench positioning, as the bench tube adapter may contact the footplate depending on user size.

The routing is very similar to the Ares™ 2.0, with one key difference: the Altitude system uses side-mounted stacks like the Athena™. From the rear of the rack, the cables run up and over the top crossmembers, then travel down the outside paths to the lower pulleys. That layout keeps the cables smooth and consistent while preserving full range of motion and clean bench space inside the rack.

The weight stacks are 170lbs each with the option to upgrade them to 270lbs each. They also come with labels that tell you how the weight stacks feel for ease of use. No math required.

To keep the headplate from rising during weight adjustment, we recommend attachments on the front handles weighing less than 3.5lbs, or lightly press on the headplate while adjusting the pin if you're using a heavier attachment. 

A Smith machine is good for beginners all the way to advanced athletes. Since the Smith machine has a fixed bar path and integrated safeties it’s a safer training tool than a free barbell, making it great for beginners or those trading alone. For advanced individuals, the Smith machine allows for increased hypertrophy as it can enable high muscle recruitment, activation and isolation, by removing the stability aspect from the exercise and really allowing the user to focus on the movement and target muscle. It also allows for a safer way to train to failure.

No, it’s vertical at 0 degrees. 

The Smith machine is rated for 400 lb max loading. The bar weight is approximately 15kg. There is no counterbalance. REP has worked to lighten the bar enough so that a counterbalance was not needed and would only increase complexity and price of the product.

Yes, the smith machine attachment mounts to the outside of the rack frame, which allows you to use your safeties as normal.

Yes, plates will clear the trolley. With the Rack + Smith Machine + Cable Attachment configuration, you can load plates onto the Smith Machine and still move without interference. The Altitude™ smith attachment and cable attachment paths are designed to coexist.
