FAQS
-
What is the purpose of a lifting belt?
A lifting belt acts as a tool to increase intra-abdominal pressure by giving your core muscles something to brace against as the abdominal wall expands. The stability that a belt provides explains why most lifters can lift more with one than without.
-
Where are the REP® USA Premium Leather Lifting Belts made?
The REP® USA Premium Leather Lifting Belts are meticulously handcrafted in the United States, ensuring exceptional quality and attention to detail.
-
What material is the REP® USA Premium Leather Lifting Belt made from?
The REP® USA Premium Leather Lifting Belt is skillfully crafted from exquisite, full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather, known for its durability, strength, and natural beauty. The buckle is stainless steel, and the rivets are nickel-plated brass.
-
How do I pick the right size of belt?
Measure the size of your waist – the circumference where you want to wear the belt -- while you’re in your workout clothing. Generally, you want to center the belt over your belly button. If your measurements fall in between sizes, go with the smaller option. Belt sizes are as follows: small (25-35”), medium (30-40”), large (35-45”), x-large (40-50”), xx-large (45-55”), and xxx-large (50-60”).
-
How tight do I need to cinch my belt?
You don’t need to yank on your belt like a corset. A too-tight belt can actually inhibit your ability to fully expand your torso to create tension. The belt should fit snugly as you brace, but not be overly tight before you brace. The purpose of a lifting belt is to provide a cue for you to brace against – internally.
-
What does “vegetable tanning” mean?
The vegetable tanning process is a very old, very reliable method that produces a much more versatile piece of leather than some of the more modern processes. The hides are tumbled in drums to soften and remove the hair before being soaked, sometimes for months, in fats and oils called "tanning liquors," which give the leather its durability and its propensity to patina so beautifully. This is one of the more underrated aspects of leather, especially pieces designed to be used as tools like these belts. The aging of the piece is symbolic of the progress and maturation you’ll experience in your lifting career; over the years, the leather will change and shape to your body and movements. Our belt manufacturer hand cuts, oils, and (if needed) dyes each piece in house. This allows us to control the product more finely instead of just slicing stuff up and throwing some suede on both sides.
-
How should I care for and maintain my belt?
The leather should be oiled and conditioned to prevent it from drying out over time.
-
Does the REP® USA Premium Leather Lifting Belt have a warranty?
