Each Calibrated Nickel Plate (LB) features a color-coded band for easy identification: red for 55lb, blue for 45lb, yellow for 35lb, and green for 25lb, just like other calibrated plates. Plates under 25lb do not include a color band. -

Calibrated plates ensure the weight is accurate to within +/- 10g, so your training at home matches the exact standards used in powerlifting competitions.
Nickel-coated plates offer better corrosion resistance, surface hardness, and long-term durability compared to bare iron, uncoated, or even standard steel calibrated plates. The electroless nickel finish protects against rust, wear, and chipping, helping preserve weight accuracy over time. They also have a sleek, low-maintenance appearance with a chamfered edge that elevates both performance and aesthetics.
However, electroless nickel-coated calibrated plates are just as accurate as standard steel calibrated plates, since precision comes from the calibration process, not the coating. However, the nickel coating adds superior protection against rust and wear, helping maintain that accuracy over the years. It also gives the plates a more premium, low-maintenance finish, making them a durable and elevated option.
Machine-finished weight plates offer superior precision, durability, and consistency compared to traditional casted plates. Each plate is precision machined to exact tolerances, ensuring a uniform diameter, accurate weight, and smooth edges for safer, more balanced lifts. Unlike casted plates, which can vary in weight and surface quality, machine-finished plates deliver a cleaner look and more reliable performance—ideal for lifters who value quality and consistency in their training.
In engineering and manufacturing, "electroless" refers to a chemical plating process that does not require electricity to deposit a metal coating onto a surface. Instead, it relies on an autocatalytic chemical reaction to deposit a uniform layer of metal—typically nickel or nickel alloys—on a surface.
Electroless nickel plating provides a uniform coating across the entire plate and offers superior durability compared to traditional finishes.
REP tested a hard chrome finish but found it less durable. The electroless nickel coating proved to be more resilient, smudge-resistant, and better at hiding signs of wear over time.
We do not recommend dropping these plates, as it can damage the bar, the plates, and the floor.
We do not recommend mixing any other plates with bumpers because the non-uniform diameters can create uneven stress on the bar, which may damage it over time.
