We do not recommend mixing any other plates with our bumpers because the non-uniform diameters can create uneven stress on the bar, which may damage it over time.
The urethane-coated Equalizer™ plates are iron plates with a urethane coating. While the urethane coating adds durability and helps reduce noise, we do not recommend dropping iron plates, as it can damage the bar, the plates, and the floor.

I wasn’t always a fan of coated steak plates and I originally wanted the plain steal Equalizer plates but they’ve been discontinued. I thought I was settling for something I didn’t really want, only to unbox them and be very satisfied with everything from feel in the hand, design, and obviously they function as desired. I’m looking forward to years of good use.

Love the plates. Easy to handle, feel great, and look great! Make sure to also get some additional lighter plates to help the kids build confidence and make it easier on your significant other if they aren’t used to hoisting around 45s. Two 25s are less intimidating to family than moving around a 45, but for the lifters in the house, stack up the weight! Does exactly what they need to and look good doing it too! Can’t recommend enough!
