Rubber and urethane are the two most common materials for dumbbells. The difference between the two lies in their durability and price. Urethane is more expensive. It is also an extremely durable material that is abrasion-resistant and shows less age over time. Urethane dumbbells can sustain more wear and tear over a longer period of time.
REP dumbbell racks are not included with REP dumbbell sets. The number of racks needed depends on which set you order.
5-50lb set: 1 REP dumbbell rack
5-75lb set: 2 REP dumbbell racks
5-100lb set: 2 REP dumbbell racks (95's & 100's will sit on the floor)
5-125lb set: 3 REP dumbbell racks
55-75lb set: 1 REP dumbbell rack
80-100lb set: 1 REP dumbbell rack
There may be a coating of protective oil when the dumbbells are brand new, but that oil will wear off after a few weeks of use. You can use a dry rag to wipe off the oil.
The handle length is 5.2" for all weight sizes.
However, the handle diameter varies by dumbbell weight size.
2.5-15lbs: 28mm
17.5-125lbs: 34mm
REP Hex Dumbbells have a 3% weight tolerance.

The dumbells are very good quality. After about a week the rubber smell will lessen considerably.

I researched for weeks in what dumbbells I wanted. I decided on Rep and went back and forth on the rubber hex vs urethane. Finally decided on this since I did not want them to roll around in the garage. Saved the money and using it on other equipment. I am glad I did.

We purchased the full set of 5-100lb dumbbells with the local pick up option to save some money. The dumbbells are high quality and we are very satisfied with our purchase. The knurling on the full length of the grip is great.
While we paid a significant amount for the set, it will be more convenient for my wife and I to work out together without having to share adjustable dumbbells. Also, if we bought two sets of adjustable dumbbells that go to the weight desired, the price was comparable to the full set. Last, these come with a lifetime warranty for home use so I never have to worry about additional costs due to something breaking unlike the adjustable dumbbells.
The dumbbells were packaged well and protected from damage in transit.

I bought the 5-50 dumbbell set and three tier rack. Even with shipping costs, was significantly less than most set ups, arrived in two weeks to my front door down my mountain dirt road. Rack set-up was easy. Really pleased with it so far. Only had it a couple weeks but everything is sturdy and working great. Would definitely buy it again.

Solid Set of Hex Dumbbells! The metal etchings make for a great grip. Rubber coating barely has any smell. Great starter set. If you get the rack and this set. You can also get the 2 other smaller weights. I also purchased the 2.5 and 7.5 lbs weights and they all fit perfectly on the rack Rep sells.
