The GoPro Mountain Games are back in Vail, Colorado from June 4 to 7, and REP Fitness will be right in the middle of it. If you haven’t heard of this event, picture 95,000 people, 5,500 athletes, 35+ competitions, live music, gear demos, and a whole lot of dogs. It’s basically a four day celebration of mountain sports, outdoor culture, and super inspiring energy that'll leave you wanting to go home and train harder.
The best part is you can show up and watch for free. So if you’re anywhere near the Rockies in early June, come say hi, try some gear, and watch people do incredible things on bikes, kayaks, climbing walls, slacklines, and more.
What to Expect at the GoPro Mountain Games
The Mountain Games are a whopping 41 events across 11 disciplines, spread across venues all over Vail Village. You’ll find trail running, mountain biking, kayak freestyle, stand-up paddleboarding, speed climbing, disc golf, fly fishing, and even competitive dock jumping dogs (yes, that’s a real thing, and yes, it’s extremely watchable). More than half of attendees are under 30, but the crowd is a fun mix of competitive athletes, families, dog people, gear shoppers, and of course, outdoorsy types.
A few highlights worth circling on your calendar include the DockDogs Outdoor Big Air competition, the CELSIUS Trickline Invitational (pro slackliners doing flips at Solaris Plaza), and head-to-head speed climbing on a 15-meter wall. If you’ve ever felt the thrill of watching Olympic climbing, you'll get a kick out of seeing it in person.
One thing to know for 2026 is that several whitewater events have been adjusted due to low snowpack. Five water competitions are still happening, but some are moving to adapted courses on the Upper Colorado River. The organizers recommend downloading the Mountain Games app for the latest schedule updates, which is solid advice since conditions can change.
Music, Creators, and Festival Vibes
Sports aren't the only draw at the games. There's also The Mountains of Music concert series which runs over the weekend with free daytime sets in Gear Town and ticketed evening shows at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. The CoLab stage at Solaris Plaza will also host creator panels, live art, athlete Q&As, and more music. If you want a change of pace between events (or your legs need a break from hiking around Vail), there’s always something happening within earshot.
